Miniroos
About
North Brisbane FC is part of the Mini Roos football program run by Football Federation Australia (FFA), which is a modified form of the world game and is specifically designed to increase player participation and enjoyment.
MiniRoos Club Football uses small, sided games (4v4, 7v7 & 9v9) rather than the traditional 11v11 format to cater to 4–12 year-olds. The smaller fields, modified rules and fewer players mean a more enjoyable game with more opportunities to touch the ball and more opportunities to score goals, once again increasing the likelihood of an overall positive experience.
As your child progresses through the various age groups, they will be introduced to playing environments that most suite their stage of development and prepare them for the transition to 11v11 football when the time comes. Smaller teams (and field size) increase the number of touches on the ball. It’s more fun!

Training is conducted weekly and will commence in February/March (date TBA), with no training conducted during school holidays. Training sessions will generally be held for one hour between 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm on weekdays during the school term.
The exact training schedule will be communicated once team numbers are finalised.
Games are played on Saturday mornings. No games or training are scheduled during school holidays.
For our U5-7 age group, we run a partnership with Newmarket Soccer Club so all games will be played at either Prentice Park or McCook Park. Scheduling for the U5-7 age group will be completed in partnership with Newmarket Soccer FC.
U8-U12 will play home & away fixtures within the general north Brisbane region.
Scheduling for these games is managed by Football QLD and will be available in the SQUADI app prior to the season commencing.
At North Brisbane FC we do not undertake trials for MiniRoos age groups, but rather "soft grading" of all players to ensure suitability of competition in accordance with Football Queensland guidelines.
It is important for the development of our juniors that they are placed in competitions of suitable ability to ensure players are playing at the right level.
Players can nominate other players they wish to play with; however, these requests will need to be made on your Online Registration. Placement in a team with those players is not guaranteed, but where possible all requests will be accommodated.
Parents, carers, or guardians can apply for a Fair Play voucher valued up to $200 for their child, which can be used towards sport and active recreation membership, registration, or participation fees with registered activity providers.
More information about how to apply for Fair Play vouchers can be found on the Queensland Government Sport and Recreation website. Vouchers are offered in various rounds throughout the year, and you are limited to 1 voucher per child per calendar year.
